Colorado is the project.
On the Front Range the second half of the project is harder than it is in most of the country. A freight truck has to reach the lot. The ground under the unit freezes and thaws its way through the whole cold season. Sun at this elevation is relentless on a south or west elevation. None of that appears in a listing.

Consultation
Scope, site, design, and electrical coordination. On the Front Range that conversation includes elevation, exposure, where snow leaves the roof, and how much of the year the walk from the house happens in the dark. Fit is determined here, and no quota sits behind it.

Site preparation and delivery coordination
Pad, deck platform, pavers, or piers, verified level and draining away from the base. Then freight: whether a truck can reach the lot, where the crate lands, and which gate it comes through. We schedule Colorado outdoor builds around weather windows rather than committing to a date and hoping.

Assembly
White-glove build by our crew: uncrating, assembly, trim and finish, level confirmation, and the packaging gone when we leave. Most assemblies take four to eight hours on site. Indoor and basement builds follow the same sequence, with the pad question replaced by floor, ventilation, and door swing.

Electrical coordination
Performed by licensed trades, coordinated by us. The heater was settled during the consultation, so this is a scheduled visit rather than a surprise. Permitting and local requirements vary. We'll walk through what applies to your site during your consultation.

First burn
Walkthrough, protection, and the support that follows. We heat the room with you, cover the heater and the controls, and talk through how the wood will behave through its first winter. After that, someone on the Front Range picks up the phone in year three.
Climate and site
Freeze, thaw, and altitude sun
Two forces do most of the damage to an outdoor sauna on the Front Range, and neither of them is the heat inside the room.
Freeze and thaw cycling
Front Range winters do not settle in and stay put. A bright afternoon in January can push a south wall above freezing and drop it back below after dark, over and over through the season. Water that has worked into wood expands every time that happens. Across years, that cycling is what opens joints, cups boards, and loosens fasteners. It is the single reason we push dimensional stability so hard in this market.
High-altitude ultraviolet
There is less atmosphere between a sauna in Boulder and the sun than there is almost anywhere else people live. Ultraviolet exposure grays untreated wood faster here, and it breaks down finishes faster too. A south or west elevation ages visibly ahead of the rest of a unit unless both the material and the protection schedule are chosen with that in mind.
The case for thermally modified wood over cedar
Thermal modification changes the wood itself rather than coating it. The result is more dimensionally stable, more rot resistant, and better able to handle ultraviolet exposure and freeze and thaw cycling. Cedar is a good material and we still specify it, for indoor infrared and for sheltered outdoor placements paired with a maintenance plan. For an exposed Front Range back yard, thermally modified wood is the recommendation we give most often, and Thermory leads it.
Snow, drainage, and access
Three site questions come before any model conversation. Where snow comes off the roof and where it lands. Where meltwater goes once the pad is the flattest thing in the yard. And whether a freight truck can still reach the lot in March. We walk the site for those three before we talk about wood.
Dry air is not the same as an easy climate
Colorado's dryness gets credit it has not earned. Low humidity slows some kinds of decay, and it does nothing at all about ultraviolet exposure, wind, or the freeze and thaw cycle. Those are the forces that age an outdoor sauna here, and none of them are gentle.

This corridor is where a large share of our Front Range work happens. Sites here run from tight older Boulder parcels with a mature canopy and one narrow side yard to newer Erie and Superior back yards with room to set a cabin well off the house. Boulder and Louisville builds often mean threading a unit into a small footprint, which is where a cube or a compact cabin earns its place over a barrel.

Central Denver lots bring alley access, older bungalow footprints, and back yards that are already carrying a garage and a patio. That combination sends a fair number of these projects indoors, where a spare room or a finished basement takes the pad and the drainage out of the equation entirely and infrared becomes the sensible answer. Golden and the west side add grade. A bench cut into a slope with drainage below it is a better sauna base than the one flat spot in the yard, which is usually flat because water collects there.

Flat, open, newer, and windier than people expect. Site preparation is generally straightforward here, which moves the conversation to placement and screening sooner than it does elsewhere on the Front Range. Wind exposure is the variable we watch: an unprotected unit on an open lot loses heat around the door and takes more weather on one elevation than the others.
The south metro and the Palmer Divide

South of Denver the elevation climbs and the weather sharpens. Castle Rock and the Palmer Divide take more wind and more snow than the metro floor, and the temperature swing between a sunny afternoon and the same night is wider. These are the projects where thermally modified wood is least negotiable, and where we spend the most time on how the unit is protected rather than on which model it is.

Fort Collins and Loveland projects split cleanly into two kinds. Households building for daily personal use, usually on a suburban lot with good access, and property owners adding a sauna as an amenity. For the second group, SaunaLife with Wi-Fi capable heater control is our usual recommendation, because durability and remote operation matter more than anything else on the list.
Aurora and the east metro

The east metro is open ground. Newer subdivisions, level yards, predictable access for freight, and very little natural windbreak. Builds here tend to go smoothly, and the design work moves to orientation, screening, and the walk between the back door and the sauna in January.

How licensing works on a Colorado project
Most Front Range sauna projects are site work and skilled assembly. Some are more than that, and the honest thing is to say where our role ends and a licensed contractor's begins, before you have to ask.
We do not hold a general contractor license in Colorado.
On projects that require one, we work with a licensed general contractor partner.
We coordinate; licensed trades and licensed contractors perform.
Electrical is always coordinated through licensed electricians.

My goal is to help the world transition to regenerative wellness practices that hold communities together. I spent half my life in the corporate world, where the work was mostly transactional. I am shifting my focus toward the mission now, and I hope to one day open a Bioharmony Sanctuary of my own.
What I do today feels personal in a way that work rarely did. It gives me, and the members I serve, the peace of mind that this is going toward something greater. It feels bigger than me.

We answer to the member and the mission rather than to a single manufacturer, so the recommendation starts with your site. Here is how each buildout tends to land on the Front Range.

Does thermally modified wood really matter in Colorado?
For an exposed outdoor placement, yes. Freeze and thaw cycling and high-altitude ultraviolet are the two forces that age a Front Range sauna, and thermal modification improves how wood handles both. It is more dimensionally stable and more rot resistant than untreated softwood. Cedar remains a good material, and we still specify it for indoor infrared and for sheltered placements paired with a maintenance plan. For a back yard in Longmont, Parker, or Castle Rock, thermally modified wood is what we usually recommend.
How long does installation take?

Do you remove the crate and the packaging?
Yes. Uncrating is part of the build, and the crate, the wrap, and the straps leave with the crew. You are left with a sauna and a swept pad.
Can you install on gravel, or do I need a foundation?
Pad, deck platform, paver base, and piers all appear on Front Range projects. Which of those suits yours depends on the ground, the drainage, the model, and where snowmelt goes once a level base exists. Your specialist walks the site and tells you, rather than applying a rule of thumb. The site is verified and prepared before assembly is scheduled.
How much space does a sauna need?
Enough for the footprint, the door swing, and access for service, plus roof clearance for the unit and for the snow that comes off it. Those are confirmed against the specific model during your consultation, which is why we ask for the model name early.
Can you install a sauna indoors?
Yes. Basements, dedicated rooms, and spare bedrooms are a large share of Denver and Boulder projects, where a small older lot sends the sauna inside. Indoor builds trade the pad and drainage questions for floor, ventilation, and door swing, and infrared is often the sensible answer in a finished room. Electrical work is still coordinated through licensed electricians as part of your project.
How hot does a sauna get, and how long does it take to get there?
A traditional sauna reaches approximately 170°F in about an hour. Infrared reaches approximately 130°F and above. Which of those suits you depends on how you want to use the room, how often, and what your site and electrical situation allow. That is a consultation conversation rather than a specification comparison.
Do you cover Colorado Springs and Fort Collins, or only metro Denver?
The whole Front Range. Fort Collins and Loveland in the north, through Boulder, Longmont, Denver, and the west side, down to Castle Rock, Parker, and Colorado Springs.
